DM has "anthologized" writings about The Rising that have been sent to him in private emails (after asking permissions) and circulating them just to those who did the writing. My (unfinished) blurb comparing the album to mid-era Beatles (see August 12 entry) was included. I feel kinda embarassed because I never added the examples I'd intended to be part of it, and it seems half-baked to me, but the other writing is casual also, and interesting. I'm flattered to be included in this company.

I watched a very disturbing film over the weekend: The Virgin Suicides. It reminded me a little of American Beauty, only without the slapstick and set 25 years earlier. A satirical look at upper middle class life that manages to have a lyrical, dreamy facade. Vivid images -- a subtle symbolism that claws at the back of the mind long afterward. I deleted it from TiVo, but now wish I hadn't. Guess I will have to get the DVD and look at it again, since I keep thinking about it.

Didn't mean to fall off the earth (as Neil sez). I've started two more blogs... one for Sandy and me to record childhood memories, and for Mom and me to compare flylady notes. I DID get TFDVD mailed on Thursday, and a box of books to Sandy too: Back When We were Grownups by Anne Tyler, Maus Vol. 1, Coraline (for Julia and Sandy both) and Colleen Doran's Distant Soil, Vol 1. All except Coraline are dups for me.
Hope I can get some work done on the sabb thing this week. I need to figure out exactly what I want from JW before writing to him. I tend to get carried away and say too much, with no clear aim. Better to sharpen it up and just ASK.
